Dior “Gaucho Medium Flap Bag”

Honestly, I liked Gaucho when I first saw it. It was a fresh idea and it looked really special with the disproportional flap. This version of Gaucho is very interesting, but I somehow have a feeling I have seen too much of Gaucho, at least in it’s original shape, without any changes made. It just didn’t strike me as a classic, the bag you buy and will be able to carry it for another 10 years to come. And I didn’t expect Dior to insist on the exact same shape, with no alterations whatsoever for this long. I do not know, it’s just how I feel. It just doesn’t cause that rush in me when I see it.
This spring Dior decided, as many other designers did, to liven Gaucho up a notch. I personally do not think I would buy and carry this bag, but it certainly caught my attention. At first I was not sure if I really liked it, it really is on the sole border of being overdone. But, after taking a closer look, I decided I liked it, and at first it was because of the red and white contrast. I just like that combination and I like how they put very little of the red pieces and still managed to produce the right effect. The yellow pieces seem more neutral, but still, they give life to the bag. I also like how the ivory leather goes along with the hardware, the bag looks brand new but the hardware gives it a bit of a vintage look. And I also like how comfy and soft it looks.
Having said this, I have to note that it is just a bit too pricey imho. It is not something new, something you will see and go crazy about it from the moment you saw it. I know that many of ladies out there will love it and buy it, but I will be passing on this one.
