The idea behind patchwork bags is a little misguided, since little patches of various materials sewn up together sounds more like grandma’s country fair project than a glamorous label’s handiwork. Coach has a tendency to turn out patchwork styles that run the gamut from loony to lovely, but this new Hamptons Patchwork Large Carryall is genuinely decent. What makes it work is the monochromatic color scheme. Without myriad colors competing for attention, the hodgepodge of materials stand out - albeit quietly - on their own. You’ll find everything from patent leather and python-embossed leather to metallic suede and the brand’s signature fabric on this roomy Coach purse. It may be enough to lure Coach die hards, but whether the average woman will love it is questionable. It’s available for $598 at Coach.
